Frequently Asked Questions

Bonita Green Side
  • How do I charge the bike ?
It's easy - similar to charging up your lap top or mobile phone. In our smaller scooters, the batteries are stored under the seat where they can be easily removed or left in place for charging For our larger bikes (Volpe & Domino), there is a socket connection typically on the side of the bike. The charger itself is the size of a tissue box and has a standard UK domestic 240v, 13A plug
  • Can the bike be stored outside ?
Yes - no problem. All our bikes go through tests to ensure they will withstand the rigours of the English weather and worse. We would however recommend a suitable rain cover is used.
  • How much would I pay in Road Tax and Insurance ?
There is no road tax payable on plug in electric vehicles and all are ULEZ and congestion charge exempt. Insurance costs will depend on the individual but are priced on the same basis as petrol engine driven counterparts.
  • Where can I get spares from ?
The simple construction of the bike means there are not so many wearable parts needing regular attention and replacement as with petrol engined motorcycles. We stock replacement brake pads and can get new parts direct from the manufacturer.
  • How do I know when to charge the battery ?
All speedometer / instruments contain a monitor showing remaining battery capacity.
  • Do you have to wear protective clothing when riding electric motorcycles ?
Yes, definitely ! All helmets worn on UK roads must meet one of the following: British Standard BS 6658:1985 and carry the BSI Kitemark UNECE Regulation 22.05 a European Economic Area member standard offering at least the same safety and protection as BS 6658:1985, and carry a mark equivalent to the BSI Kitemark Whilst there’s no law about wearing other protective clothing, but specialised motorcycle gear is highly recommended - it could save your life.
  • Are Electric Motorcycles slow ?
We have various models of bike with different motor powers however typically electric motorcycles match or out-perform their equivalents with petrol engines.
